The opening ceremony of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League has been postponed by a day from April 6 to April 7. The venue of the opening ceremony has also been changed. The cahnges were made after the CoA forced budget cuts worth Rs. 20 crore for the opening ceremony.
The venue of the opening ceremony of the 11th edition of IPL, initially scheduled to take place at the Wankhede Stadium. But it has now been shifted to the Cricket Club of India (CCI).
“Earlier the opening ceremony was scheduled for April 6 at the Cricket Club of India. Now it has been decided by the CoA that it will happen on April 7 at Wankhede before the 2018 IPL opener,” a member of the BCCI told The Indian Express.
“Earlier the budget for the opening ceremony was Rs 50 crore, now it has been reduced to Rs 30 crore. This call, too, has been taken by the CoA”, they added.
The opening ceremony of the next season of IPL will be held just before the game between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings on April 7.
