TV broadcasters who want domestic T20 cricket games to be shortened have led to radical changes being put on the table in England. As per reports, the England’s new T20 competition will be launching in 2020, include five-ball overs. Even the bowling ends will be changed only once – halfway through the innings.
These changes have been mentioned in exploratory talks aimed at speeding up T20 games. According to reports, the England and the Wales Cricket Board is under pressure from the TV partners such as the BBC to ensure games in the flagship competition are completed in around two-and-a-half hours.
